First-past-the-post exaggerates regional divisions, making us appear more divided than we really are.
Proportional representation gives every voter and every region a real voice.
Let’s do it then. I don’t care who our winning party is, it’s all government of Canada after the election. I just want the best version of the truth. I’ll vote for it.
This is also why the Liberals will never abolish FPTP. The political center tends to gain the most out from FPTP, at the expense of democracy of course.
It’s not never the parties of other countries in the past have bowed down to enough pressure into passing PR through a majority. Putting their country first rather than party.
Fair enough, I guess I should’ve said they’ll never abolish it willingly. Either way it’ll only go away after mass popular action, not campaign promises handed down by politicians.
