Just curious, I don’t know if this feature would be in fedecans or lemmy’s court to implement. I just know that it would be quite helpful to further develop communities.

If so, I hope it works with old.lemmy. I can’t stand any other formats and it already frustrates me that certain features don’t work with this format.

It would be up to Lemmy developers to implement flairs, and then the Mlmym developers to make them visible on the interface that is displayed when you go to old.lemmy.ca. If we (Fedecan) were to try and implement something just for ourselves, it wouldn’t be that helpful since only our users would be able to see and set the flairs.

It looks like post flairs are on the way though! I see this merge from last week for “finish adding post tags”

    https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/5869

    Referenced in this issue

    https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/317

User flairs will likely come later, but it’s planned from what I can tell. The issue was kept open:

    https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/1456

Having the flairs be displayed in the old interface may take some time, since that project seems to see slower development. If someone has experience in the ‘Go’ programming language, they can help implement it to speed things up

Glad to see its in the pipeline at least! Fingers crossed the old interface keeps on being updated. It is honestly the only thing that has been making me use lemmy.ca. I don’t like change. The day reddit drops the old format, is the day I might finally stop using reddit altogether.

Its my weird hill I’m choosing to die on.

        That is totally fair :)

You also mentioned that certain features aren’t available on old.lemmy.ca. What features were those? I’ll see if I can find anything about it

Unless if I am severely missing something, I don’t believe there is any way for me to take any moderation actions on posts or comments through the old.lemmy.ca interface. So if I ever need to pin posts, remove posts/comments, or see reports I need to switch over to www.lemmy.ca instead. Not the end of the world, but a bit bothersome. I also cannot see the languages tagged on to posts.

Thanks, I’ll see if I can pass on those suggestions once I track down whoever is currently in charge of the project. It looks like it may have been handed over to a new team recently

That would be awesome! All of this is a bit above my head, I wish I could be of more help. History/culture is my professional, not computer science. I appreciate the help and it’s really encouraging to see admins active and approachable on here.
