The production announcement comes after strong earnings for GM and a record-high stock price posted on Tuesday. The 2021 CAMI plant retooling cost $2 billion, with about $500 million coming from Ontario and Ottawa.

While GM as a whole may be doing well, I don’t believe this particular model is selling very well. If that’s the case, it’s unsurprising they’re dropping it, even though the timing may suck.

Yeah, they say as much, but in the current political climate, it could be them trying to save their asses to avoid action from Unifor and the government.

Brightdrop seems like a very strong product from reviews. Much lower total operating costs than ICE vans, range suitable for urban use of vans. Do they make it anywhere else?

INGERSOLL, Ontario (October 21, 2025) - General Motors today confirmed the end of production of the BrightDrop electric delivery van built at CAMI Assembly in Ingersoll, Ontario. BrightDrop production will not be moved to another site.

      Doesn’t sound like it.
