I watch watching CBC and someone had suggested that riding should have a bi-election because that is not what they voted for. I would argue that yes that is what they voted for, we do vote for the people not for the party. Sure it is arguable that the voters were expecting something else but we vote for people not parties.
Yea, in the end, we are a representative democracy, not a direct democracy. We vote for a representative in the expectation that they represent our views, and that they take the actions needed to do that.
