OTTAWA, March 17 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump must stop making “disrespectful” comments about Canada before the two countries can start serious talks about future ties, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Monday.

“We’ve called out those comments. They’re disrespectful, they’re not helpful, and they … will have to stop before we sit down and have a conversation about our broader partnership with the United States,” Carney told reporters in London.

I heard the US and Canada haven’t even had a phone call yet. This is the way. Just ignore the orange idiot.

If he throws a tariff, don’t bother talking to them. Just respond with a like tariff to red states and move on with life. Talking doesn’t do anything with Trump and he’s a fucking liar and will go back on previous deals anyway. There is no point in a discussion.

Sunday was Mark Carney’s birthday. He’s already working his ass off for Canada!

Trumps an absolute fucking embarrassment to America. No leader of any country should ever belittle a leader of another nation.

But he did it in his first time calling Kim Jong Un “Rocketman” so I’d expect nothing less from a convicted rapist and felon.

If he’s such an embarrassment, why’d they elect him twice? I’d say he represents them.

I’m glad he has this attitude. Not sure how effective it will be.

Carney really feels like we finally have an adult at the playground.

This was obviously discussed ahead of him making that comment in public. There’s no reason Carney as PM should sit down with American invaders if they keep up with that rhetoric. It gives Carney the power to keep making trade agreements all over the world and if the US wants to discuss anything with him, they can fully stop the offensive rhetoric. If they don’t - fine. Carney doesn’t need to meet with them. Trump already tore up CUSMA. Trunp’s signature on agreements is already worthless. Carney has nothing to lose by not meeting with him.
