JFC. I can’t believe there are still folks out there that fall for this crap.

That’s good…because I can never actually read the Globe and Mail.
Using rally sizes to determine levels of actual support, makes no sense. So what if “thousands” of people showed up. What if that’s everyone. Then you’re just bragging about how 0.001% of the total population is on your side.
And even if only 10% of your total supporters showed up. That’s still a tiny number of actual people.
I know for a fact that BC is not going to allow this to happen. The BC Conservatives (Social Credit) did this back in the 80’s, and the result was a bunch of American companies strip mining and clear cutting their way through the province. It created a lot of temporary employment and even started up a bunch of small towns…but once those companies had taken what they wanted, they all fucked off back to the US and took all the extracted wealth with them, leaving folks without work, and a ton of environmental damage to clean up.
Needless to say, the BC Conservatives have never gained another majority since then.
PP: “I am nothing like Trump.”
Also PP: runs on the exact same policies, word for word.
Every time I listen to Poilievre talk about “deregulating resource extraction”…all it reminds me of, is how back in the 80’s, Conservatives in BC allowed the province to be strip mined and clear cut by US companies, who shipped all those resources south of the border for refinement…then sold it all back to us at a premium.
The government got their cut off the top, and didn’t have to spend a dime…but Canada lost a ton of wealth, and not one long term job was produced.
It’s short-sighted and wasteful policies like that, that basically ended the Conservative party in BC. Let’s not repeat their mistakes on a National scale, please.
I think maybe it’s time for Canada to ban twitter, for national security reasons.
Seriously. That option needs to be removed from the Charter. I haven’t heard one instance where it was used in a positive way. It’s always to do something that violates someone else’s rights.
