Canada@lemmy.ca•‘Buy Canadian’ movement could add $10 billion annually to Canada’s economy, says BMO economist
3·9 months agoYes. Quebec city to Toronto is one straight line and building a high speed railway on a straight line is damn easy. Costly but engoneering wise there are not much challenges.

33·9 months agoThe biggest problem with our country is the damn supply chains. We need to tear down the north south(CAN->US->CAN) supply chains we had in place until now and replace them with East->west supply chains. To get an aluminium can, we export raw aluminium and US makes cans and sends it back to us. They have been taking us for a ride. We get nothing in return. Hopefully Carney is able to incentivize industries which would let us move production back to Canada. Elbows up!

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada waiting for US economy to implode enough to make America 11th province
10·9 months agoNone of the states are cool. Outside of the cities and urban areas its a red majority country. Incredibly racist and misogynist.

816·9 months agoThe solution to this is simple. A change to the MIT license to bar .gov projects to use the open source projects.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Rules for c/Canada during the election season
3·9 months agoBlanket bans have sometimes helped me in the past. Lemmy IMO is not at the scale where that would be necessary. A contextual evaluation can still work for lemmy. Your solution of moderating it individually is the right one in this case.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Rules for c/Canada during the election season
3·9 months agoI am new here. I ma basing my comment on observations I have seen in reddit. Please take my advice with the skepticism it requires as I don’t understand how moderation in lemmy works.
My observations based on moderating subreddits have been to institute blanket bans on people who are active on extreme right subreddits and extreme left subreddits. This helps in clearing the brigading and steers conversations towards neutrality.

2·9 months agoI think we also need to remove brigading posts. I am new to lemmy so not sure how much brigading happens here.

PRC is capitalism with some controls. USSR attempted socialism but failed with varying degrees. Cuba is a dictatorship of Castro family. Vietnam was socialist but moved to a PRC model. DPRK is dictatorship.
Communist states require capitalism to some extent as they need the modes of production to exist before the modes of production can be democratized. In the real world this strongly implies that communism would be post capitalist. The problem almost all communist states suffered is via creation of a vanguard party which oversees the transition from the existing structures to actual communism. In many cases vanguard never relinquishes power and becomes the very entity that they set to destroy. Revolution is continous and requires context to succeed. In this case, any structure must be opposed to make sure that power do not get concentrated. This implies that absolute systems cannot exist. Only decentralized systems which cooperate on some principles with each other can solve the issue of power concentration.
