I like the idea of competition, but there is no excuse for the Epic Game Store being so awful. It could have been rebuilt from the ground up many times over in the years since it launched. It’s abundantly clear that Sweeney has no intention of improving it or giving consumers the features they actually want.
Exactly. Denuvo is an automatic boycott from me. Even if they do eventually remove it, they missed their chance. There’s so much great content out there, and much of it by indie developers who don’t treat their customers like garbage.
I like Debian. There are very few distros I don’t like. But it’s not the right choice for everything.
It sounds like anything with KDE Plasma will make you happy. If the underlying OS has been fine with you, then try Kubuntu. If you want a non-Ubuntu system, try openSuse or Fedora.
I love this. I recently set up a “Linux flight” with various distros on a bunch of thumb drives to test drive the latest. I decided to stay Kubuntu but it made experimenting so quick and easy.
I have some friends and family that cant upgrade from Windows 10, so I’m going to keep the flight and walk them through trying out some personally selected distros.
Using Steam, Heroic, and Bottles you can even run Windows software almost perfectly, too. There’s never been a better time for regular folks to make the switch.
That depends on what you mean. Their main market is AI, but their reputation is still built largely on gaming. The two sides of their business are linked like the two sides of a coin and can’t be separated. It’s why they are so fiercely protective of their gaming reputation that they threaten and bribe journalists for favorable treatment and use software-specific driver tricks to artificially bump their benchmark numbers.
From the outside, I don’t consider them “key” for anything. There are other businesses and technologies that could easily replace them.
Exactly. Even if you accept their argument that 8GB is usually enough today for 1080P (and we all know that is only true for high performance e-sports focused titles), it is not true for tomorrow. That makes buying one of those cards today a really poor investment.
FSR4 appears to solve a lot of problems with both upscaling and frame gen – not just in FSR, but generally. It appears they’ve fixed disocclusion trails, which is a problem even DLSS suffers from.
There is nothing wrong with Unreal Engine and UE5 is not meaningfully different than UE4. The problem is that developers only “optimize” to pass console certifications while PC gamers are left out in the cold. It also doesn’t help that PC gamers have a lot more options and will often insist on choosing settings that are far beyond the capabilities of their particular hardware.
I cannot stress the accuracy and importance of this statement enough. These are fundamentals, especially the chicken powder. Chicken bouillon also works as a substitute if necessary, but you want to get that strong flavor without drowning the dish in liquid.
No thanks. I can support 2-3 visionary indie developers for what you’re charging for your hollow “AAA” drivel. Even when you realize this and kick off the deep cut sales, I’ll skip the game, because even at half price this will be more expensive than your competition. You don’t get to price gouge gamers any more, Randy.
I spent $30 years and years ago. I’ve gotten hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it. But you’re right that the more expensive the ship, the more people you need to crew it.
Unfortunately, it will ship with Denuvo malware. Consider buying a game from a developer/publisher that doesn’t treat their own customers like garbage.
I would choose nothing, but thankfully there are loads of fantastic games that don’t ship with malware. I give them my money, instead.
So long as it’s as lovingly and carefully polished as the first one was, I will be content with the delay.
