I don’t know how that would work. Everyone that I know who is anti-vax thinks all the rest of your list is elitist crap as well.

We chose to allow the US to dictate our EV production and gave the emerging market to China. We don’t get the last 20 years back for a do over. Import Chinese cars, decrease dependency on the US. Return to selling our soybeans and whatever else to China.
About famine, how far off is the US from it? If their farmers are failing as bad as they say they are, coupled with droughts in various other farming areas around the world, and if Russia is still bombing agriculture in the Ukraine, are we in store for shortages any time soon?
A week ago we were on a 400km drive. In that time there were 2 completely separate fatal accidents along our route. Both were caused by excessive speeding. Not just 10 or 20km over the speed limit but excessive. One was figured to be going more than double the speed limit. One of the assholes took another innocent driver with them. I have changed by opinion on speed cameras and red light cameras because even on city streets so many drivers think that whatever speed they want to do is ok and they don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone else on the road. Unless drivers improve, I think every technological means necessary should be used to tackle them.
Whatever it takes for me to be able to get away and nothing beyond that. That could be a single punch, it could be a gun shot. All depends on the circumstances at the time. The point is “only what is necessary for me to escape”.
Yeah that’s how American children get killed “breaking” back into their homes after sneaking out.
Is the article wrong? Biased?
Personally I believe the world was a better place before the Internet existed. It was more personal, more local. The billionaire tech class was created by the Internet and are actively damaging the world for their own personal gain. Good mental health is almost non-existent for those who are always online - and that is a purposeful construct so that they will be online more and create even more revenue for the tech billionaires. The initial romantic notion that the internet would provide education and information and connection has been dwarfed by the damage it has caused. The most ‘internet raised generation - Gen Z’ is notoriously disconnected and isolated compared to previous generations. In short, if the Internet ceased to exist tomorrow, a decade from now the world would probably be a better place.
People aren’t forced to get vaccines. They are forced to live with the consequences of whatever they decide. If it is in the interest of public health that people who are not vaccinated stay away from public places or immune compromised places like hospitals, then people who make the choice not to get vaccinated, make themselves unable to participate. No one gets held down and forced to be vaccinated however they may lose some privileges (temporarily) that go with being vaccinated. Once the pandemic was under control and people weren’t dying in large numbers every day, those limitations went away.
I’m guessing you either aren’t American or you aren’t and Evangelical Christian.
People who feel they can drive fast never understand that the road may not be built for extra speed. Most often in cities there aren’t long enough sight lines for traffic joining a road to see a car that is speeding until it is too close. Speeders and zig zaggers don’t see what the cars behind them see: that it is actually the great defensive driving, emergency braking, swerving, going on in their wake, that allows their “safe” passage through traffic - none of which would be needed if they weren’t so selfish.
Cutting everything that we can identify as American. UK has better TV. Foreign films are often better than the “blockbuster” junk out of Hollywood.
If you think you need to protect your data, why would you go to that country?
As Canadians we cannot expect Carney to fix the problems on his own. We, as individuals, need to stop buying American to the fullest extent that we can and if we can’t buy Canadian either buy other countries or not at all. It’s amazing the stuff that you don’t actually need but have been manipulated into buying due to American advertising. It is hard to do it overnight but with time, most American products can be resourced.
Not all immigration is bad. Not all foreign workers are bad. However when companies/employers are allowed to freely manipulate the system so that Canadians cannot get the jobs or the training and ‘scholarships’ and apprenticeships are for women, indigenous, and immigrants first, then Canadians who are excluded will be resentful. There was a news report yesterday of someone trying to raise money to keep an unqualified student in Canada, all expenses paid, because that young person had “potential”. So do many other young Canadians and yet no one is trying to sponsor them if their parents cannot afford to send them to post secondary training. When a Canadian needs a trade certificate to do a job but a TFW can use the fake certificate his friend created for him, it isn’t a equal employment field.
If you told people the best way to pay off their debt was to cut their income and then try to cut some of their expenses, they’d laugh at you. Somehow Conservatives have been able to peddle that narrative for 40 years and, although they have never made it work, provincially or federally, they still have people believing them that the first thing to do is cut income (taxes). I voted for Harper the first time in hopes that maybe he had a different take being an “economist”. Did not vote for him again.
This is all polls, given that ballots won’t be counted until after 7pm April 28. If you didn’t vote this weekend at advance, get out and vote on the 28th. Take your Voter Information card and driver’s licence if you have them.
I’m disappointed that so many people are still headed south. Maybe it is travel that was booked prior to January or they have kids in uni that need to come home or something. I hope April is double the March numbers.
If anyone were really worried about privacy, all internet related companies would be in bankruptcy. Apple? Meta? Google? SnapChat? Reddit? You name it, their whole purpose is collecting the personal data of their users.
Tying our industry to backwards focussed USA isn’t going to help Canadians move into the future. Do we want EVs or do we want to re-open coal plants for Trumps pals?
