Well, I was wrong, but not surprised

Let me take a wild guess where in Canada they’re from…

But maybe they could abduct Danielle Smith. Silver lining there
Absolutely. A part of me hopes the referendum happens so we can get an overwhelming ‘no’ on the record.
100%. I’m a 3rd generation Albertan and my plan has been to live here the rest of my life. The Alberta separation movement, as far as I see it, is a wild media frenzy pushed on by our fragile premier. Its supported by equally thin-skinned and petulant crybabies with no forward thinking skills, which, again as far as I can tell, is a steep minority.
But if I’m wrong, and this thing gets close to real, I’m gone and my only hope of not being financially ruined by dumping all the equity in my home is that one of these morons doubles down in hopes of knocking down my house to build a mansion for the ‘inevitable flood of wealthy white people’.

Yep, and normally I’d say you gotta just be the change and vote for a losing party to build support.
But with what’s happening in the abyss that is the States right now, taking a step backward in order to move forward feels much more dangerous than ever before.
We need electoral reform, but asking for it, and being promised it, sure hasn’t been working.
It should be, but vampires are alluring which belies their evil. That’s the cautionary part of the fiction.
Is Bezos a soulless ghoul cannibalizing the festering, necrotic wound of poverty which he grows larger every day? Yes, and in no way can that be conflated to being sexy.
To be fair, the killing isn’t the point; they’re the product. Its just that profit is God, so killing in its name is justified.
Killing poors for the joy of it? That’s just an evil bonus.
Ghoul is the only really good one in the list. Its a generic feind thats in no way cool.
Rogues and vampires are cool.
Sycophant is good when someone’s being a sycophant. But you can be independently ghoulish.
Whose eco-friendly now? We’re bringing back critically endangered diseases, what have the rest of you brought back from the brink of destruction?
Its okay lil guy, I don’t know either

Of course it’s fucking Alberta.
Leadership here desperately wants to be included in the fascist south. Willing to sell out, seeking to secede, banning books, actively fighting against public education…

I’m unhappy about it. Lots of beautiful places in America; good family memories there. Plenty of good, honest people there that don’t deserve this shit.
It sucks to have to completely boycott the whole country, but it’s what has to happen.
We’ll have to see if we can support our neighbours again after the war (the civil war, not the trade war. At least we can hope it’s a civil war)

But! Maybe we could not tax the rich and the money would trickle down, have you thought of that?
This calls for another study!

About as long as the thought process of implementing it.

I think, to reiterate, pesky things like regulations limit how much wealth can be extracted from an investment.
That’s, like, the whole Conservative playbook. Deregulate to bring in investors; the people & environment in which we exist are not priorities.

“Thanks for your ‘leadership’.” The subtext is “your absolute jackassery united enough Canadians to stand against your Conservative supporters.”
I think Trudeau stepping down was a prerequisite, but the unprovoked trade war and threatening Canadian sovereignty really turned the tide (or rather, to be more supportive of the active role Carney is playing, allowed the tide to be turned).

It’s no secret that Carney was elected in response to Trump
Not to mention where the lines are drawn between production facility, ownership, and distribution rights. It gets really complicated on the international stage.
