It’s like when people scream “Sinophobia!” when someone criticizes the Chinese government, as an example. Criticism and condemnation of a country’s government for committing atrocities is not the same as attacking that country’s people. Most of the time the people are powerless to do anything about what their government does in these situations.

Probably nostalgia. I remember them being largely empty with inflated prices on the stuff they still sold, and the customers were few and far between. Made for a pretty depressing place to be.

And Air Canada has said as much. They had zero intentions of negotiating in good faith or reimbusing the people who lost their flights. They were blindsided and shit their pants when the union refused to back down to the Liberals, and look how fast they were suddenly able to negotiate once that happened. You can only use arbitration so many times before workers decide that they’ve had enough and refuse to play ball.

They’re not Canadian anymore, they’re not fresh, and the crap they serve is a shallow imitation of what they once were. The business that was started by Tim Horton himself died long ago, another victim of multinational corporations that fuck everything up in the name of profit.
