Depends on how you want take it… I don’t believe the commenters refer really to people, they might be more like targeting Institutions (e.g. British Museum)… It all depends on the sensibility of the reader (like many arguments on the Internet)
In case anyone wants to try this or any other “natural” drug. The most important fact is to check how far apart is the dose (a.k.a. LD50) that has the desires effect from the dose that’s going to kill you. Most of the recreative drugs have a nice gap in between.
Back from where I come from some teens would prepare an hallcinogenic tea with flowers from Datura plants. Some deaths were reported from time to time…
Of course, this is not considering other risks (health issues aside from death itself, or psychological dependance.)
So… Keep it simple. It’s better to trust your dealer’s products. Omg, wtf is my advise right now…?? Well, I guess “better” is the keyword here.

Canada@lemmy.ca•An almost inexhaustible reserve of lithium discovered in Canada
1·2 months agoI hope this doesn’t ruin peoples lifes. And if it affects anyone in Canada, I hope their revisit those laws on environmental pollution. There’s a reason why all the mining companies are in that country. Ecocide in third world countries is driven by that “blind spot” in their laws and I’m certain the majority of canadians don’t have the least idea of their complicity.

2·2 months agoSo, infinite holes. Just like a line has infinite points. And, a longer straw has a bigger infinite number of holes.
I studied biology and one thing I like about ferns is that they have these “dots” under their “leaves” that once mature drops a powder of spores that creates new ferns… Don’t ask me why I like it, I just do. I find it simple and to the point. You can simply leave a pot with earth under a fern and then you will find a baby developing there. Just like magic, and very elegant.
I fail to see the connection between the meme and the community where it was posted. Anyone cares to explain? Ty in adv.
I know. But I can’t find the humor in imagining a pool with fire. Also, in spanish we would say “on” instead of “in” to apply the secons meaning. Or at leas to me that’s how it would really mean that there’s fire at the pool: “la pileta esta en llamas” vs. “hay llamas en la pileta”.
Anyway… I am just an overthinker…
“Cuidado, hay llamas!” … I don’t get it.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•FFmpeg to Google: Fund Us or Stop Sending Bugs
6·3 months agoSome GPLv2 projects monetize by selling: support, extension via custom features, or simply the permission for a commercial use. This is possible, and it’s what I called “the legalese package”. Imagine ffmpeg being able to charge every year any amount they want to the biggest clients, like GAFAM. Yet you’re still able to use it non commercially… To be fair, there’re some middle uses, that get the disadvantage of having to break the license or ask for permission. For example, if you create anything with ffmpeg, then as an indie dev you’d need to launch your product breaking the license or paying them… But even so, situation is manageable (e.g. ffmpeg could spare you and/ or give a 1 year permission to small businesses)

Open Source@lemmy.ml•FFmpeg to Google: Fund Us or Stop Sending Bugs

If I understand correctly the biggest issue for FFMPEG and other projects is not only the Google and Microsoft that use them without giving back, but their chosen License. They gave permission to corporations to do this. One of the potential ways to fix this situation, is to change the license. For example from LGPL to AGPL. And then they can sell the legalese package of allowing them to break their license. The biggest difficulty is that, as a project, they’d need consent from every past and future contributors. So, yeah. I get it. This is a mess.
It would be way more easier if more corporations donated to open source projects… There’s too much labour that’s invisible
I believe it’s intentional. Then, you interpret the original post this is being replied to, as the content of such bubble. Alas, I am still figuring out what’s the meaning of it all…
fwiw, engineers round Pi and are fine with it…
purple earth was all RNA, or not?
Reminds me of that post about a new species and someone had to ask “how come scientists never saw it before?!”

AFAIK, the problem is that we don’t even know with certsinty the shape of the universe. Let alone find out anything outside our own cosmos…
