But why bother at all in this case? Funsies?

I don’t like it either. Not for us, I suppose.
Linux itself is entirely “corporate-aligned.” It exists and is developed almost entirely by and for corporations.

I don’t use Signal to talk to people I know only pseudonymously through the internet. I use it to talk to people with whom I would already share my phone number. That social graph can be ascertained a thousand ways already. I think it is worth pointing out as you do, however. If I wanted to attempt to hide the fact that I was contacting someone from the state, I’m not sure where I would start, but it wouldn’t be Signal.

You may not be, but many of us are. None of it is free, from development to hosting to administrating. That works okay for now, but might be a limiting factor.
Edit: I also thing community stewardship could work better than it does.

3·7 months agoFurry by itself is largely no longer considered shocking and may even be getting close to mundane, but the thing to remember is that furry pornography can be and often is also in another kinky category at the same time. I think people who are into furry stuff (which includes myself, I’m not being judgemental either) may be more likely to be sexually “adventurous” in other ways as well.
Webassembly frameworks.
Blazor! But only because I’m a dotnet guy professionally.
Yew? I’m not good enough with Rust to have tried it.
I use Aurora DX so most of my apps are flatpaks. Its fine.
I use Yakuake almost exclusively. I was wondering how difficult it would be to modify it to open from the bottom of the screen instead of the top.

Its completely true that not all use is because of being forced to use it though. Lots of people do love using these tools whether for their own amusement or because they find it useful whether we like it or not. He’s right.
