In very early 2000s my friends and I used to comment on water appearance in games. If I saw Black Flag ocean then I’d have probably shit myself. Really water was a benchmark between us still recall it on the amd 9500

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada plans to assist Cuba as Washington squeezes the island
4·11 days agoI agree but when the bully that gets away with everything makes a demand they should not be appeased. Personally I’d never want to do what they asked even just out of spite, but if taking a country into consideration then I see why concessions are made. It can only last so long though.
Learn a other new thing again appreciated, I don’t think I’ve heard of that one…or did years ago and memory failed hard to tell heh. Always nice to realize new things so thank you.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Awful people are using the Tumbler Ridge shooting for their own hateful political agendas. Don't let them.
21·23 days agoAgreed, but unfortunately people who do that are well known for flooding the zone, then this gets more people on their side, even if they didn’t have any good points to make. Just a few feels and some less than cricital thinking will win people over.
Been awhile since I was in school I do hope they’re stil teaching kids how to think on their own these days. Though unsure if I picked that up on my own and has my own opinions to not exclude random people who cause no harm or was actually taught it. Heck if anything it’d have been sesame street abd Mr Rogers teaching me that, those radicals teaching to not be bigoted.
Mean I also definitely support mental health for all, I know I’ve had to visit a few times myself and think everyone should have the opportunity if needed.
Used to live near there for awhile, couple hours away unsure if we ever went there, think my town was smaller, wikipedia tells me it is currently a similar size so guess not by much if at all (like a few hundred people different sort of thing)
Very much appreciated, thank you I’ll never understand everything but I’d at least like to have a bit of an idea.of what I can.
Always love their comics but since I don’t know crap about this stuff it’s amusing to see how this one is relevant to a meme. Wish I knew more but only so much I’ve learned so far. One day perhaps but not today.

4·1 month agoWait I thought we put them to the geese? Maybe let’s do both to be sure.
Sometimes I do…most times I’d have preferred better comments but by now I can rewrite it better anyways. So no need for further comments…

Canada@lemmy.ca•Scott Bessent warns Carney not to 'pick a fight' with Trump
4·1 month agoI thought of Ron Burgundy saying that, little hand gesture at the end and all.
And fuck anyone in that administration, it’s more like playtime for deliquents playing dress up and the parents are passed out. …oh crap they were voted in apparently. Like all the robbers putting on cop costumes and giggling.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Carney’s Message to the World: The Rules No Longer Protect You | The Walrus
24·2 months agoHe’d bend over and ask for Canada to take more. Nothing I’ve read from him sounds like a proper leader of this country. He’s as whiny as a toddler like the neighbor’s ‘leader’. Calling that thing a leader is laughable, he couldn’t lead a train on the track unless there was a pile of gold in sight.
Definitely one of my favourites somehow didn’t read (well listen) till like 8 years ago, wish I made the effort much sooner but grew up mostly without an Internet or friends to tell me I should check it out…then decades happened. Took me a listen or two to really get it but it’s one of those I pick up on some line I didn’t ponder before that says more than first glance.
Rest of the trilogy is great too I’m hoping the 3rd in the peripheral series will be good.
At my age (sorry dunno yours) everything comes quickly but I agree this, and other tech stuff lately, come on fast these days.
Side note reminds me of neuromancer (book) where it’s described as subcultures can come up and disappear quite fast. Oddly relevant to today even if we can’t plug into the net. It’s a single line in the book so don’t think that’s the focus if you haven’t read it, but I do recommend. Though the prose can’t be difficult sometimes cause sometimes almost written poetic.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Memory crisis expected to last until 2031, supply already allocated for 2026English
2·2 months agoOkay I’m old is this a actually newer meme or was it a joke to post the reply?
It does sound familiar (like close to a movie line) but also sounds accurate. If the bubble pops so much memory available cheaper.
Mean I’m only 1 year into my PC build but I tend to do them every 4 years or so…crap that’s only 5 years from now I thought it was longer, but still lot closer than I thought from first read. Least at this age time goes by quickly, for better or worse heh.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Brandon Sanderson Is Close to Adapting Mistborn Into a Video GameEnglish
1·2 months agoI was more thinking he wrote it like a tabletop RPG system that adapts to a video game. I realize now I left out the tabletop bit from my previous comment.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Brandon Sanderson Is Close to Adapting Mistborn Into a Video GameEnglish
1·2 months agoFrom what I recall the powers were written as an RPG type game, it wouldn’t take a lot to make an RPG or video game out of it (yes I know it is a tabletop RPG as well now).
I think I only got 3ish books in (maybe 4 can’t recall) but having to hear the exact amounts of material for their powers really struck the idea home is all. I believe I read he played DnD and if true it shows.
The movement may make it more fun than the rest of the ideas combined really (just look at spider man, the agility alone makes that a fun combat system), that’s probably where’s it’ll succeed or die off I imagine. It may be good without a good movement mechanic there but it’d be awesome with it done right.
Been awhile but not all powers were movement based either, while it can make or break a game it may break the setting if not done well either, which would suck for fans but if it’s fun to play then it’s fun to play.
At my age I’ve played enough adaptations that weren’t overly true to the material but still has a fun game underneath can’t recall exactly but I know I’ve had that thought previously.
That’s pretty much the radio version as well the books were pretty close on those lines.
I listen to the radio version of hitchhiker’s while I go to sleep often, if I managed to hit play in the middle of the whale’s pondering I always back up a bit. It’s one of my favourites of the entire series and not as good when played mid pondering.
Also the line about the bowl of petunias having relevance later is quite amusing to be sure. Though I assume not thought of when written.

It may be worth it if you had a chance to say ‘how tiny’ as you clasped his hand. Though representing the NHL not like they could do that, or most people in his insulated environment.
