If you self-host it, you´re actually more open to lesser vector of attack, since I really doubt you will go into building robust security solutions with your personal IP. That includes local law enforcement or criminal elements just taking your server.

Even if you do self host who are you sending email to? It’s most likely going to one of the big tech companies.
