“Write legislation that lays out the rules for an ‘Alberta Whisky Act’ and what might constitute an Alberta whisky.”
While the actual query would surely be more complex than that, an Alberta minister says the government is considering using AI technology to draft a forthcoming piece of legislation.
Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Dale Nally has been asked to lay out the standards for “Alberta whisky," and he said the task represents the right sort of test case for the burgeoning technology.
“It’s important, but there’s no hearts or lungs involved,” Nally said. “There’s no lives that are going to be lost. And because it is legislation that’s going to be laying out a process from the grains to the water and how things are distilled, if a mistake is made, we can course correct.”
This is purely for the hype-fuelling optics. Danielle Smith is currently in the process of whoring our province out to AI datacenter developers, so we all have to make a big show of pretending that AI shit don’t stink. Who cares if getting an LLM to write legislation is the literal antithesis of democracy. Here in Alberta, if we catch sight of an ecologically abusive industry that’s doomed by its sheer fundamental unsustainability and hated by every person in the country, of course we’re going to try and lure it home.
And these fucking UCP stooges wonder why they’re getting recall petition’d.
This is so idiotic. At the outset, the notion of writing a whisky act stood a better chance of fucking things up rather than making Alberta whisky less confusing to the market. Saying “we care about Alberta Whisky” then not even putting in the effort to actually write the legislation? Clown shit.
The UCP seem incapable of thinking anything through to its logical conclusion. This type of shortsighted bullshit hangs over absolutely everything they say and do.
…but why?
Minister of Red Tape Reduction, introducing more red tape.
Politicians write laws to benefit the rich, not the masses. Logically, AI will write laws to benefit the tech, not the useless blood bags.
