I don’t want any US deal, at all. I want sovereignty and democracy above all and that means cutting the US out of our supply chains. Lets get cross border trade to zero.

I don’t buy from or sell to fascists and I don’t take threats lightly.

I don’t either. I think we should be totally closing the borders, and kicking off the start of their decline. If you look at the history books, it tells you not to basically turn them economically inside out, but the history books also tell you not to appease them, so honestly I’d go with the former not the latter.

Well, so did the Iraqis and the Afghanis and the Libyans and the Palestinians. Nevertheless, I think we can all agree that Americans will be greeted as liberators.

Lets get cross border trade to zero.

Practically speaking, that’s impossible. The actual population of Canada is distributed in a thin smear over the tops of the US, primarily clustered in major metro areas that pair with American cities. Trying to divide Detroit and Windsor or Toronto and Buffalo would be about as easy as dividing Ft. Worth from Dallas, or Laredo, TX from Nuevo Laredo, Mexico.

Virtually no one living in these communities actually wants that. Hell, Canada has its fair share of Trumpies while America has a healthy chunk of New England / Midwestern Polite People. It wouldn’t even be a clean split. You’d need to do some kind of Iraq Civil War Sunni / Shia militant purging to get to where you’re trying to go.

You would have more luck annexing US territory down to 47th parallel than to cut off trade with US border towns.

nah fuck the US and fuck the people there that allowed this to happen and continue to allow it to happen.

Americans, get your shit together and then we can talk but just know that we as Canadians no longer trust you and won’t be trusting you again for a very long time.

Will Carney grow a spine and call on repayment of all US debts to Canada? Will Carney quit disarming Canadians in the event Trump honours his 51st state non-sense so people can defend themselves, their family and their country?

I’m Canadian, I own firearms, I don’t want the 2nd amendment. Nobody does.

Canada, you need to cut America off. Full block, no contact. Straight up ignore Trump and his cronies. No more diplomatic visits. Pull your embassy out of the USA. Tell Trump that the US embassy is no longer welcome on Canadian soil and they need to GTFO. I say this as an American. Trump is an absolute narcissist and is incapable of compromise or rational thought. The rest of the world should do this too, including making sure American military bases are no longer welcome on your soil.

The less we have to do with the US at this point, the better. I understand it may not be feasible to cut ties completely, but let’s keep it to the absolute bare minimum. I’m completely over their bullshit.

Actually Trump renegotiated it, called it USMCA, said it was the best trade deal in history, signed it on camera in a huge White House press event, lost the Presidency, won the Presidency, and then called it the worst deal ever and that it was signed by a stupid “past President”. Then tariffs in violation of it.

Even for Trump, that story arc is pretty wild.

I mean, Canada can say anything to him and he’ll forget it in a few hours. There is no point coming up with a plan under Trump because he’s a fucking idiot old evil cunt.

Just say to Trump, “Good talk I think we’re close”, and leave. Then continue business as usual and secure other deals with other countries.

The United States is not a friend of Canada and it can not be trusted.

I 100% get that, but I personally don’t think Trump or Hegseth are smart enough to pull off a military operation as complex as infiltrating Canada. To make matters worse (for them), many branches of the military seem to hate their guts.

That said, I’m just some pacifist dope with almost no knowledge of this stuff. If an expert out there wants to scare the shit out of me, I’m ready to learn.

At minimum, we need to secure the border and beef up defences in strategic points. I also think a screening for Americans should be in place and a “no-fly-list” started for American against democracy (IE: almost every republican in office).

First on the list is that fucker who is the US Ambassador to Canada. Pete Hoekstra. We need to ban his fucking ass from entering. He’s an anti-Canada gaslighting old fuck stain

He’s high on seeing how far he’s been able to subvert systems of government with social network tech bros at his heel, so he’s going to keep on trying to push the point social networks are trying to impress onto the young and vulnerable. He’s doing it with the cooperation of other authoritarian world leaders who also have a lot to gain from toppling a world order based on rules.
