We definitely have a higher than average number of loud dipshits in this province. I blame the oil patch; it’s way too easy for high school dropouts to jump into a career earning six figures within only a year or two, and I think that imparts a sense of arrogance and confident ignorance.

If you’re an Albertan or someone like Dianne Peake please reconsider

Look at the chaos that’s happening in America with Trump and their republican/conservative government/system.

Do we really want to replicate their shit here?

Yes, they do. smith and ford are still following the playbook.

I met a lady on the brink of homelessness, she was complaining about cost of living, rent, healthcare, and access to other services. She then proceeded to praise Elon and Trump for exposing the corruption and fighting for normal people and she wishs we had strong politicians like that up here.

        People are delusional.

1 in 4 Albertans believe the earth is flat, trump is a deity, and aliens are taking their field jobs.

1 in 4 Albertans should shut the fuck up.

While this is a worrying number, it isn’t significant. Last I heard, Quebec separatists numbered greater than this by a lot.

25% means nothing in practical terms, but it is enough that such ideas need to be dissuaded from spreading, and frankly the best way is to find a way to push public spending in Alberta. Federal funding towards such an initiative that can’t be embezzled or cheated would be nice, though it’s hard to think of something that can’t be diverted considering how slimy their premier is.

I doubt increased public spending would help since that’ll play into their conservative base on how the federal government is trying to create a nanny state or something along those lines

It was, but that was also, what, 20 years ago? Sentiment has changed massively and now the numbers are closer to 30%. The Bloc doesn’t even talk about separation issues anymore because it tends to reduce support whenever they do. Though it is still part of their mandate last I heard.
